Most of these carving are made on old books and some carving made on magazines which has high-quality paper and vivid color. First is even made on 8 brand new books. Anyway amazing art!
Dear Anonymous #1, calm down. These aren't great novels, they're clearly junkshop books which would otherwise be destined for the tip, or else glossies for vacant minds. A lot of publications could be very much improved by this kind of treatment; at least they have had some genuine thought put into them in these photos. I see now that the glossies are called "Attention to Detail," very appropriate.
Wow!!! We do "secret books" with our theatre props class. Get the books from recycle or the dust bins at thrift stores. They'll freak when they see the work that goes into these amazing works. Thanks. z
"What's with this whole trend of creating art by destroying books. The symbolism of this really bothers me."
Calm down, someone like you should be complaining more about the Body World exhibit more than something as trivial as old book carving. If anything, this art romanticizes the contents of these books. Besides, it's not like we're running out of these
Beautiful! Way to re purpose books and make lovely art What's with this whole trend of creating art by destroying books. The symbolism of this really bothers me.

Stumbled on these. Would love to know who the artist(s) are.
I agree... these are great.

This makes me so sad. Any book is worth reading, not destroying. That's somebodies time and effort, regardless of what's contained in it.
I don't get these at all. These are some of the worst book art I've seen, and I've seen lots.
Beautiful! Way to repurpose books and make lovely art. I love books too, but there are many ways to use them.
